So it's been a very busy and productive half year since graduation.

I know I've said in my past few posts that I would be getting up more development work from my short but, clearly, this has yet to take place. INSTEAD here's a quick update as to what I've been up to lately:
- After my previous gig doing storyboards for a web animation studio from May thru November, I took a week vacation w/ relatives in Puerto Vallarta - good times, hardly any drawing getting done though X-O
- Immediately after the vacation I'm back in LA starting my brand new job I've been at since; development and storyboarding for a major series to broadcast on Cartoon Network.

I've never been a part of development before so I've had to really flex my creative muscles more than ever before (HEADACHES!...sigh, I'm good). Also, storyboarding for a traditional animation series is a serious far cry from web animation so this has presented even more challenges. All the while I've been commissioned to create a piece of animation for a music festival in early January, which I look forward to seeing once it's finished of course. All in all it's been a gloriously and PROUDLY stressful past month hopefully leading to major improvements on my current skillz (and maybe a litttttle break after the new year?).

By mid january, I'll hopefully have gotten my groove back and gotten back to my OWN sheeit for once! (AAHH ;))

What's up everybody! It's Halloween & I'm super full still from our midday potluck at work. It's been a long time since I last updated and I don't wanna leave this blog dusty so I'm just here to say that a new update will be coming soon. Whether it relates to my short, or anything else I won't say. Until then everyone needs to listen to this shit:

Classic.

See ya'll again in a few

Stayed up a little later than usual last night working on some concept art for my upcoming short. I did several drawings and just cleaned up my favorites.
Basically...
It's about a boy & a girl.

By the recommendation of a friend, as a means to relieve stress, I was asked to color in a page of a coloring book (one of hers). After some resistance (not too much) I gave in and put this one out, and here it is just for fun. After finishing it I felt much better, to my surprise! Embrace your childhood! Get a coloring book!

Back in August(see below) I posted a drawing I did for my GF's sister's birthday. Well this time it's her mom's bday and I did another quick one. This is just a quick cartoony sketch of my gf and her sister, something to make a mother proud!

Or just somethin to post :-D

Hey everybody, few & farbetween audience who checks my blog, well check this! UPDATE:
So my GF's little sister had her 17th birthday and I thought I'll be a good friend and make her a digital painting! She loves to cook & is in fact very good at it, so I came up with this gift for her (which she apparently really likes, which is good):

"Sarah's Kitchen" (nonstop credit to Nate Wragg for the inspiration for this piece)

As for what I'm doing now, my current storyboarding job continues to takes its toll. I've learned a tremendous amount about boarding as well as Flash in the past few months however, which has kept me very focused on my art as of late. Currently I'm working on a concept for a mural, designing my upcomign website, and I've begun writing the script for the animated short that I WILL make, I promise. Don't miss out on this! Goodnight everybody!

So I'm back in Bakersfield for the weekend seeing family for Alma's 20th Birthday when my older sister Jennie asks me to draw her a picture of a robot. She's a recent graduate from SJSU's Mechanical Engineering program so robots are definitely her favorite. I sketched this up in just a few minutes so hope you all like it as much as she has!:

Last night I saw a great concert with my lady at the Hollywood Bowl: John Mayer featuring Ben Folds, and Roco Deluca & The Burden. Our seats were pretty good, the entire show rocked, but I was, in a difficult to determine way, extremely entertained by Mr. Folds in particular. I thought of this sketch in the car on my way home, inspired in particular by expressive sketches of Nate Wragg. Click it!
